On Thursday at UEFA HQ in Switzerland, the semifinal draw for the Europa League was made.

Arsenal have been drawn against Atletico Madrid.

It’s undoubtedly the hardest draw draw Arsenal could have got.

In the other half of the draw, Marseille pulled Salzburg.

Whoever wins the Europa League is guaranteed entry into next season’s Champions League.

Considering the Gunners are sixth in the Premier League, and 13 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, winning the UEL is Arsenal’s best hope of playing UCL football next term.

After a 4-1 win in the first leg, Arsenal drew 2-2 with CSKA Moscow on Thursday.

It was a hairy night for Arsene Wenger as CSKA went 2-up on home soil. But a brilliant goal from Danny Welbeck, and a second from Aaron Ramsey, assured Arsenal’s place in the final four.
